Day 4: Kindness Can Change Our Perspective

Scripture Reading: Matthew 10:33, Colossians 4:5, 1 Peter 4:8

Reflection: Samaritans and Jews hated one another, each considering the other to be heretics that were unfaithful to God. In Jesus’ story a Jewish man is saved by a Samaritan, forever changing how the word “Samaritan” is used by us even today (rather than an insult, a “good Samaritan” is a great complement!). In the same way, our selfless acts of love for our supposed enemies can help totally change how others view us, our faith, and our God.

Prayer: “Loving Father, help me to resist the people, movements, and social pressures in our world that try to make me hate my neighbor. Help me to choose love in every situation, with every person..”

Journal Prompt: Plan one random act of love for someone this week, if you can, try to choose someone who is difficult, or who you don’t interact with much. If you can’t, a spouse or family member would be a great idea too. Write down what you plan to do, and follow through with it!
